Yesterday matriculants wrote their first paper and I hope it was a good start.
On my way to work I was listening to the radio and the only thing they were talking about was matric exams.
I really hope that matriculants grab this opportunity with both their hands and excel at their subjects.
This is their last opportunity to fix mistakes and prepare for the future.
I hope the young ladies and gentleman have applied for varsity or collage.
With all that said, November 1 is election day and as usual a lot has been promised.
Jobs are one of the things we have been promised.

Now with these matriculants writing their final exams and preparing for the future hoping to study and get a job, will they really get a job in the next three or four years?
I mean we have graduates who have been unemployed for years and every year we get more and more graduates.
Will the class of 2021 get jobs in three or four years time since we are being promised a better democracy or at least good change?
I am thinking where are all these people going to find jobs when the country’s unemployment rate is so high?
Is it even worth it to go study or people will end up studying something they don’t like just because they can get a job, a secure a job position?
I’m not trying to discourage education but just saying that there are no jobs whether you have a degree or not.
As for the current government they keep making promises and telling us about a better tomorrow.
For the past few weeks, they are in our faces asking us to vote but we are experiencing load shedding, water issues and pothole riddled roads.
How convenient!
Anyway to those who are voting I wish you all the best and I hope the results make you happy.
I am not going to say vote for change because the only change we get is from bad to worse.
But in IsiZulu there is a saying, “ithemba alibulali” meaning hope does not kill.
So if you are going to vote just do not expect too much, except that you will get a new councillor who will actually do something in your ward.
With that said, good luck to all the matric students and I hope the future holds only amazing things you have wished for.
And also best of luck to the incoming local leadership.
