I saw a quote, purported to have been uttered by our supreme fellow South African, which raised my already overtaxed and overwrought eyebrows.
Believe me, I empathise greatly with the people of KwaZulu-Natal who are suffering the consequences of the devastating floods of recent weeks.
However, I was gobsmacked when I read that the private business enterprises should join hands with government, in the KwaZulu-Natal rebuilding programme.
How much more help does the government need from private enterprise, to actively fulfil its mandate to look after the citizens of this country?
These fellow South African citizens, from whom help is being requested, are the ones who voted for you, paid their taxes to you and have witnessed epic episodes of grand scale financial mismanagement.
Shame on you for not living up to their expectations and colouring the air with promises of a better life, all couched in the headline of freedom, which do not come!
Now to top it all, private sector must step up because you are about to stumble and fall – again, without any legal consequence.
How many more challenges can be dragged from the cupboard of shortcomings, and onto which you can attach your excuses? How many more times must private enterprise be summonsed to help you out?
GOBSMACKED
