The last newspaper of October already, in two months’ time it will be Boxing Day, with Christmas already over.
Congratulations to the organisers of the delightful orchestral experience at Scottburgh High School last Saturday. I am told it was absolutely outstanding.
Wow, local is lekker. A big thanks to Maureen and Malcolm Ridgeway who were recently sighted cleaning an area near Scottburgh Mall.
Volunteers are needed to assist the Pennington Ski-boat Club clear debris washed down the river by the recent floods and to help tidy up the car park. This will be at at Nkomba car park (at the bottom of Syringa) on October 27 and 28.
We have been promised a skip by the municipality which will, hopefully, be delivered to the car park on Wednesday. If not, the clean-up will be postponed. There is no point in moving a pile from one place to the other and then into a skip at a later stage. We cannot prune and or cut anything and should this be deemed necessary, we will get the necessary authorisation and schedule a follow-up.

Tidy Towns Pennington will continue to identify projects, large and small, hopefully with the support, guidance and assistance of local business and community members.

Pennington Recreation Club is the owner and custodian of Relton Hall. Pennington Recreation Club was formed in 1953. Laurel Pennington donated a piece of land and a thatched roof clubhouse was built in 1961, which unfortunately burnt down in 1977. The Pennington community collected funds and built the current hall which was officially opened in June 1980. Relton Hall is available for use by all the residents of Pennington. The various activities and functions provided by the Pennington Recreation Club generate the funds required for the running and maintenance of the facility. An invitation is extended to all the residents of Pennington to become members of the Recreation Club in order to preserve this valuable asset for future generations. Membership forms can be obtained by sending an email to reltonhall@yahoo.com and current membership fees are R100 per year.
