OPINION: Where are our traffic officers?
There in never anyone on point duty during loadshedding
Do we still have a traffic department in our area?
After starting the first neighbourhood watch on the South Coast with Larry Larriman in Tweni some years back and sitting as executive chairman of the greater Port Shepstone Community Policing Forum (CPF) forming other CPFs, working with Saps and patrolling our areas, I have some experience on this front.
The chaos caused by loadshedding at main robots is a common sight but there is never anyone on point duty.
I can’t remember seeing a speed trap on my travels lately, just the occasional roadworthy check.
Perhaps solar power at the robots would do the job? Just a suggestion if no manpower is available.
