OPINION: Dog parlour owners went above and beyond
They go far beyond just being business owners, they actually care and give back to the community.
I would really like to thank Gerhard Groenewald and his partner Michaella from La Pooch Doggy Parlour in Uvongo for their outstanding, commendable community service and their passionate, spontaneous assistance with their customer’s pets. It’s unheard of.
My two Labradors ran out our gate when it opened last Tuesday night and disappeared into the darkness.
We searched but could not find them.
I posted on the local community groups and, next minute, Gerhard and Michaella phoned to say they are ‘on their way to help search’.
At that time of night? Unbelievable!
Anyway, they did not give up and actually found the two scoundrels on the beach.
Gerhard risked his life – he acquired bruises all over and, at one stage, fell on the rocks while searching in the dark. But this couple brought the two escapees safely back home.
Furthermore, this couple is so dedicated to their customers, they passionately do more than what is required and that with a big heart and happy smile.
On another occasion they informed me when one of my dogs did not look well while they were taking them for a walk.
Yes, La Pooch offers the service to take client’s dogs for walks.
Due to their early intervention my dog could get early attention from a veterinarian.
They also offered to take my dog to the vet when it was impossible for me to do so, and brought her back after the operation.
I have never, ever had such service.
We are actually from Johannesburg and moved down here a year ago.
They honestly need some commendation for their outstanding commitment.
They go far beyond just being business owners, they actually care and give back to the community.
A huge, sincere thank you to La Pooch.
The rest of the South Coast should know the kind of people we have in our community.
It’s not always just the bad things and bad people that must get publicity; there are good people doing good things.
