Happy New Year. Another chance to get things right that perhaps weren’t so right in 2022. An opportunity to do things differently.

Our lives are a multitude of twists, turns and junctions along a metaphorical road. May your forthcoming twists and turns be gentle and the chosen path leading from those junctions bring you peace, prosperity and long life. (Thanks to Gavin Buckle of LM Radio for this wonderful inspiration).

Please note that the rescue by Wendy Janssens and Cassie Weinberg was at the Umkomaas river mouth and not in Scottburgh.

A Scottburgh ATM took such a beating on New Year’s Day. The person must have forgotten his pin number. He was arrested. Hats off to the security companies and to the members of Saps who kept order in our precious town. They worked so hard that weekend.

In some heartwarming news, retired mid-South Coast vet, Dr Budgie Perchman’s suturing skills found a new outlet. On a recent visit to Australia, he was roped into his daughter’s business to ‘reconstruct’ the snouts of toy dachshunds! (Dr Perchman was the local vet at Scott Vet; he was loved by so many people and animals).
