OPINION: Pithy about potholes is pensioner Pat

I am put out that the fact was not advertised and that I didn't get an invitation to the opening ceremony/ribbon cutting.

The late Jack Reece would have said, ‘Mirabile dictu!’ Marvellous to say, the big pothole just south of Tyner’s bottle store has been repaired.

Has it taken just on a year to get this work done? What could possibly have caused the delay?

On a more serious note, has anyone compared the costs of ‘lick and a promise’ patching of potholes (needing to be repeated at short intervals) with the cost of doing the job properly at less frequent intervals?

I hazard to guess that there is no difference.
Also, workers need not fear for their jobs because the longer time for a proper repair will compensate for the ‘repeat business’.
