OPINION: Saps pleasantly surprise Sea Park residents

"I really hope residents and ratepayers of Sea Park will now see these men in blue out and about more often."

I would like to thank the policemen who removed the large groups of drinkers in Sea Park last Sunday afternoon.

After another nightmare of a weekend, it was a pleasant surprise to see not one but two police vans and the law being enforced.

The ongoing blatant public drinking in Sea Park is a direct violation of the municipal bylaws, and sadly, the situation in Sea Park has progressively worsened.

It’s a daily occurrence now to have groups of both men and women congregating and drinking in public in Sea Park.

Notorious hotspots are on roads such as Acacia, Casuarina, Umdoni, 1st and 3rd Avenue.

With the drinking and drunk, unruly behaviour comes the filth and litter left everywhere. Even human faeces and urine are found on paths leading to the beach.

I hope residents and ratepayers of Sea Park will now see these men in blue out and about more often.

It was certainly impressive.

HOPEFUL

The filth left behind in Sea Park on a daily basis.
