Mid-South Coast’s Nicole Alves participated in the national MMA championship held in Durban recently. She won gold in the 52kg division with a first round technical knockout.

Nicole is now a two-sport SA champion having won her first SA title in kickboxing in April. As with most achievements, it is a team efforts; thanks to her sparring partners at her club, Practical Combat Sports and the grappling training she received at Bushido MMA.

In Widenham, Alison Sweet was recently assisted by ‘Sharkey’ who helped her carry 10 litres of water to her car. What a great sport.

Vendors are wanted for the Ifafa Beach flea market on July 7. This is an awesome setting on a large field next to the beach. There will also be a potjiekos competition.
