Great news – Pennington’s Mary McKenzie is writing a book – Pennington Past and Present from 1850 to 2025.
There will be a chapter titled ‘My Story’ which will record personal accounts of people currently living in and/or enjoying a long history with our village. This includes organisations that have made a difference in one way or another. For example: Tidy Towns Pennington, Pennington Conservancy, Pennington Community Watch; and businesses – Umdoni Park Golf Club, Botha House, Characters Caravan Park, OK Foods, Umdoni Sports & Leisure, The Duck Pond, The Dog House and Basset Breweries, Selborne, Sezela and Lynton Hall (privately owned).
The book is specific to Pennington, so whatever information you may have to contribute would be appreciated, including documents, photographs, etc.
Mary will not be placing any limitations on your story – it must be from your perspective, with a personal flavour of your association with our village.
If it is too long, she will sit with you and edit, ensuring you are happy with the end result. If you know people that you believe must be included, email projectfour@mweb.co.za before September 30.
A big shoutout to Chayt Daniels – an undeniably talented surfer from the mid-South Coast.
This young surfer is a symbol of raw talent, relentless determination and local community pride. This year, Chayt is ready to take on the South African Pro Surfer Junior Tour, but he can’t do it alone.
He needs sponsorships and any form of assistance will go a long way. Contact 084 9840149 to help this talented young man.
