There’s plenty to do on the mid-South Coast with several family-focused events.
• Tidy Towns Pennington is holding an evening with well-known author Tony Park this Friday (15th). Park is the author of 21 novels set in Africa and 10 non-fiction biographies. He has worked as a reporter, a press secretary, a PR consultant and a freelance writer. The author is also a keen supporter of several charities concerned with wildlife and people in Africa.
Tidy Towns will be celebrating his new book launch and book signing at The Duck Pond, Penn Valley from 17:30 at R100 per ticket including dinner. Bookings essential: 082 8893497.
• The public is notified of a CPR and Basic First Aid refresher course at the Scottburgh Surf Lifesaving Club this Saturday (16th), from 14:00 to 16:00. For bookings and enquiries, contact 082 8204090. A small donation for the club’s time and expertise will be appreciated.
• Pennington Community Watch is holding its AGM at Pennington Ski Boat Club on Thursday, August 28, from 17:00.

• Psychic, medium, reiki master, tarot reader, numerologist, metaphysical profiler and spiritual coach Heike Sym will be visiting Umkomaas soon.
Sym will be hosted by The Sanctuary of the Great White Light, 9 Barrow Street, Umkomaas on August 31 at 10:00.
There will be a short talk and messages from Spirit. All are welcome to this free event. Bookings are not required, but attendees are encouraged to come early for a seat.
• Support local artists in the Musicals in Dance production. This event will be held at Scottburgh High on September 12 at 18:30 and September 13 at 14:00. Food stalls and doors opens at 12:00. Tickets are available at Scottburgh Health & Beauty Institute and Scottburgh High.
• The Hope Fundraising Festival, brought to the people of the South Coast by District 49 Child & Youth Care Centre supported by Lightness Productions, will light up the Blue Marlin All Inclusive Seascape in Scottburgh on October 4. Under the banner, ‘We care through love and protection’, this community celebration seeks to rally families, businesses and volunteers for an afternoon of sport, music and joyful giving, all to secure vital funds for children who have endured abuse, neglect or abandonment. More details will be revealed in time for this fundraiser.
