C. Louis Leipoldt told us that October is ‘die mooiste, mooiste maand” and how true that in our piece of paradise.
We are blessed with a warm, welcoming and well-watered environment which enables plants to thrive.
The Green Net is excited to advise that our 2026 calendar is in the works, and we have a wonderful selection of indigenous gems featured.
This will be the fourth edition of our KZN South Biodiversity calendars that have been created to enable anyone with a garden to make more conscious choices about what should and shouldn’t be there. More and more research is showing how invasive alien plants outcompete our wonderful native species, reduce water availability and often serve to reduce the number of critical pollinators around.
Additionally, in order to manage these infestations, often damaging processes like poison is used, which destroy all the surrounding biomes, contaminate water sources and are terribly toxic to those who are tasked with their application, often with little training or even suitable personal protective equipment.
Obviously, the more of these that we remove from our own gardens and pavements, the more cumulative and speedy the elimination will be, and the healthier the whole environment which is there to nurture us and many other creatures.
The Green Net is seeking 12 sponsors or advertisers (one per month), and also support by buying the individual copies – always available at various distribution points from Pennington to Port Edward.
If your company or organisation is interested in supporting this established and beautiful product by inclusion or distribution, seeking Christmas gifts for clients, family and friends, contact Joan on WhatsApp: 083 2667953
