Osisibathemba (Sisters of Hope) and the crisis centre at GJ Crookes Hospital in Scottburgh extend their gratitude to Alpha Pennington Pharmacy for the contribution of soaps to benefit child victims of sexual abuse and indigent newborns. Every comfort bag and every baby bundle receives a soap. This small gesture goes a long way in the healing process and lifts the dignity of poverty-stricken new mothers.

Cheryl Verster of Renishaw Hills said her son, Dale, and Rhodesian Ridgeback ChiChi recently went for a run in a bush area. ChiChi was off the lead, running next to Dale, when she stopped and wouldn’t move. Dale went on and called her, but she would not move. He ran on, looked back, and called her. ChiChi did not move. She started making a strange barking sound. He went back; she was so excited to see him return. When he reached her, she looked down, and a bunch of keys was next to her – Dale’s keys. A double helping of kudu biltong was exchanged for the keys. Dogs truly are man’s best friend.

A reminder that a Colour Fun Walk in aid of Khanya Hospice takes place at Scottburgh Main Beach on September 27, from 09:00. Registration is at the main beach. For details, contact 072-507-8773. Registration for the walk is from 07:00 to 09:00. Entry is R50 for adults, R30 for children, and R20 for pensioners. The walk will start at 10:00 after a fun warm-up with Just Move. There will be a market with local goods and live music all day. Let your light shine for the fighters, the survivors, and the angels. Wear white, bring hope, leave a mark.
