KZN kicks off summer season

KZN is a truly unique destination which offers an unparalleled array of experiences one won't find anywhere in the world.

The KZN summer season-themed ‘Magical Zulu Kingdom’ by the KZN Tourism and Film Authority was launched at Blue Lagoon Restaurant on Ramsgate Beach last Saturday.

It attracted much media attention as KZN and Ray Nkonyeni Municipality gear up for the upcoming festive season.

The MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Reverend Musa Zondi, led an inspection and walkabout to rural tourism attraction KwaXolo Caves and Adventures. This tour was to see the progress of a R6m renovation at the site before the launch in April next year.

The current enhancements to the extended 1.06km zipline, coupled with the upgrades to the landing deck, are set to enrich the experience for those who appreciate adrenaline tourism.

Zondi was accompanied by, among others, Nkosi Mxlosi Xolo of the KwaXolo Tribal Authority in Gcilima and the KZN Tourism and Film Authority’s board chairperson, Dr Sibusiso Ndebele.

He added that KZN was a truly unique destination, rich in cultural traditions, history and heritage, offering an unparalleled array of experiences one won’t find anywhere in the world.

Zondi was also proud that the South Coast boasts seven Blue Flag beaches.

He also stressed that visitors to the province and locals must stay safe on the roads. “Traffic regulations will be enforced, and reckless drivers will be penalised; speeding, drunk driving and inattentive driving will not be tolerated,” he said.

The KZN Sharks Board’s Babalo Mpaka assured holidaymakers that the organisation is working with their operations teams to ensure safety in the water.

“Shark nets are in place, and shark education tours, including boat tours, are in operation.”

Those who attended the launch also took part in various beach activities.

The KZN Tourism and Film Authority is a new entity, and its main goals are to promote and market the tourist and audio-visual sectors in the province.
