Holiday season: 23 safety tips for the road
One of the important tips is not to give strangers a lift.
Many road users will be travelling to a number of destinations during the holiday season; here are a few tips when on the road:
1. Ensure that your vehicle is in good condition when you plan to go on a journey.
2. Ensure that you always have sufficient fuel.
3. Always lock your vehicle’s doors and keep the windows closed.
4. Do not leave your vehicle unlocked, even if you think you will be away for only a minute.
5. Avoid stops at remote places.
6. Park your vehicle in places that are well-lit.
7. If a stranger wants to talk to you while in your vehicle, do not open the window wide – only 5cm is enough to have a discussion.
8. If something seems suspicious, do not talk to strangers. Rather be rude and drive away.
9. Limit your trips at night or at least take someone along with you.
