Esayidi TVET College Gamalakhe Campus’ Departments of Expressive Arts and Design and Business Studies jointly hosted a successful N6 Art Exhibition and Recital with the Department of Education, businesses, sponsors and other relevant stakeholders recently.
One of the organisers and head of the Department of Expressive Arts and Design, Suven Moodley, said this event is held in recognition of the creativity, hard work and innovative expression demonstrated by N6 students as emerging creatives set to contribute meaningfully to the creative industry in future.

Esayidi Tvet College Gamalakhe Campus’ head of the Expressive Arts and Design Department, Suven Moodley.

“The exhibition showcases a variety of original artworks, visual displays and a live performance recital aimed at celebrating artistic talent and cultural identity within our college community. We extended invitations to relevant stakeholders in the spirit of collaboration, skills visibility and strengthening industry linkages for these emerging creatives to promote their talents and exhibit it for the creative industry to explore.”

Moodley stated that the presence of industry role-players not only encouraged their students, but also provided them with an opportunity to engage with them.
The celebration’s theme was ‘Isikhali’, a Zulu word, loosely meaning ‘your weapon to encourage you to express your arts and skills’.

Esayidi Tvet Collage Gamalakhe Campus manager Nelly Mbhele addresses the gathering.

Campus manager Nelly Mbhele said they celebrated the growth of their artists, their works and designs which showed their exceptional talent.
She added that there is always a message in artists’ works, but as a campus they have not done enough to brand and promote them.
“Let’s move out of our corners and promote our expressive arts department. Let’s be identifiable, market our selves and be ambassadors of what we do.”
