Athletic club hosts purple run against GBV
Not just a run, a statement: GBV stops here.
XJ Athletic Club hosted a run against the scourge of gender-based violence (GBV).
This run consisted of four phases: 21.1km Phakade,15km Mvalweni, 10km Msukeni and 5km around Emaxesibeni Stadium.
This was in response to the outcry that GBV has been declared a national pandemic. XJ AC responded to the call to warn and educate communities on the scourge.

“We believe that GBV does not have colour, location, class, standard of education, boundaries, it affects us all from different spheres of life. We need to talk about it, we need to educate each other and we need to vehemently crush it. Let us talk about it everywhere where we meet as communities, it is not a once-off, but every day let us preach about it in churches and community gatherings” said Anele Mbele, deputy president of XJ AC

Runners wore purple and black, hence the name Purple Run, and also brandished placards against GBV.
XJ AC is a rural club that cares mostly about social ills and vows tooth and nail to fight against them.
