POETRY: And yet she was blamed!

Poet Vijayan Vengadachellam takes a stand against GBV.

Her smile faded,
Just as quick as her heart did,
Running towards peace,
Just as she escaped from hell,
Yet she was blamed.

Judgements clouded her,
Just as darkness prevails over light,
A catalyst to her never-ending torture,
Yet she was blamed.

Harsh words and bruises
Pinned to her publicly,
While she was pinned down privately,
Yet again…
She was blamed.

Her womanhood,
Taken from her like a thief getting his way,
By force and without humanity,
Yet she was blamed.

A damaged girl,
She was called while alive,
Yet what a lovely girl,
She was called after death.

Humanity is exiled nowadays,
With little hope of return.

A “damaged” person, to me,
Is as equal to a kaleidoscope.

The more fractures of colours,
The more precise the underlying image.
