Madiba FC beats Gamalakhe United in regional league kick off

Teams are looking forward to a fruitful season.

It was bad luck for Gamalakhe United as they opened the football season with a humiliating 3-0 defeat against Madiba FC from Boboyi at Marburg Sports Complex recently, as the SAFA Ugu Regional League 2026 kicked off.

The match commenced with both teams attacking, but no one seemed to be hungrier for a goal until Madiba FC bosses reprimanded their players for not scoring much-needed goals.

The Madiba players transitioned their slow moves and moved aggressively to score their first goal of the match. This important goal came from experienced striker, Anathi Bhengu, making it 1-0, to the delight of their bosses and fans.

Gamalakhe United then trailed from behind and struggled to go forward as Madiba FC seemingly fortified its defence wall, making it impenetrable while able to aggressively advance to seek a second goal, which eventually came from Mlulanisi Khowa.

The players went on half-time break with Madiba FC leading 2-0.

Both teams returned from the break and played a balanced match with all sides attacking, but not scoring until the dying moments of the game, when Madiba FC found a third goal, which was scored by Melusi Bhengu.

According to Bhengu, the team is pleased with their results of the opening match in the league and is looking forward to a fruitful season.
