Vaaitjie aces Port Shepstone Country Club’s 5th hole

There's never a dull moment when Vaaitjie is around.

The Ten Cup Series teed off in some style at Port Shepstone Country Club last Saturday, with Sanjay Singh winning on 38 points.

This wasn’t the only highlight on the day, with club manager Johann Janse van Rensburg, nicknamed Vaaitjie, having a hole-in-one on the 5th.

It was the second one of his career, the first coming at Standerton CC five years ago.

Chicken winners (from left) Ryan Ringo, Basil King, Piet Snyman, Jenny Hulley and Sydney Shingange.

Johann used a six-iron for the shot, saying it was the first decent strike of the day. The ball pitched just over the bunker, took a single bounce, and disappeared into the hole.

There was a log-jam on 36 points, with four players on that score.

After the countout had been applied, Kiara Naicker was second, Gavin Wyk third, Francois du Toit third and George Bowie fourth. Fanie Terblanche scored 35 points for sixth place.

Nearest the pins: Johann Janse van Rensburg (5th), Fanie Terblanche (8th), Allan Clark (14th) and Sanjay Singh (17th).

Winning chickens at the Hibiscus Coast Electrical Fowl Friday 9-hole competition were Basil King (20 points), Ryan Ringo (19 points), Jenny Hulley (17 points), Piet Snyman (17 points) and Sydney Shingange (16 points).

Chris Boyce won last Wednesday’s competition on 40 points, by two from Cameron Olivant and Gerald Koch.
