Bigger and better gospel festival on the cards in Gamlakhe for Easter Sunday

Gospel heavyweights such as Jumbo, Butho Vuthela, Betusile, Kholeka, Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors will take to stage.

The organisers of the once popular gospel music festival on the South Coast, Uvukile Gospel Festival, have vowed that this year’s event will be the biggest one yet.

The festival will be held at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre in Gamalakhe on Easter Sunday, April 5, from 12:00.
At a media briefing last Friday, the organisers made a declaration that gospel lovers should expect fireworks. This year is the 13th instalment and the event returns to the stadium, where a minimum of 10 000 patrons are expected.

One of the organisers, Joshua ‘Pastor Mjosty’ Mbhele, said: “We are going big this year. People are thirsty for the worship and word of God, hence we are going back to the stadium where we will accommodate a large crowd. This is not a just a music festival, but people are changing their lives and that God is their messiah.”

He said some challenges arose with sponsorships, but it will not stop the event, as it has an impact on people’s lives. He promised that people will enjoy the whole night with the feeling of having God within them.

Gospel heavyweights such as Jumbo, Butho Vuthela, Betusile, Kholeka, Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors will perform in the slot of Irvin Sihlophe’s double hour platinum between midnight and 02:00. Others local and national artists will also share the stage.
