The case is being investigated by FCS Port Shepstone.

Questions of safety have been raised at public schools in rural areas after a young girl was allegedly raped at a school premises recently.
The Grade 11 learner from a high school in the Umdoni area was raped by two unknown men in the toilets.
The distraught mother of the 16-year-old said she feels helpless and cannot explain what her daughter and family are going through as a result of this incident.
Police confirmed a case has been opened for investigation.
“A case of rape was opened at Saps Sawoti after a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped at a school in the Umdoni area by two unknown men. The case is being investigated by FCS Port Shepstone.”
No arrests have been made as yet.
The mother added she received a call from her father on that morning of the incident while she was at work and told to meet at the school.
“I went to the school, later to the police station to open a case, then I took her to hospital for a medical examination.”
She added her daughter returned to school the next day, but could not go back this week.
“The news has spread around the school, every child now knows what happened to my daughter and they are talking about her. This made it hard for her to go back because she feels uncomfortable. She is receiving counselling from the Department of Social Development, but she is not doing well.”
The mother is also concerned about the safety of her younger daughter who attends the same school.
The grandparents blame the school for being negligent because they noticed large holes in the perimeter fence.
“How can perpetrators go in, rape someone and leave the premises without being noticed? How safe are our children in the school?”
They said since the incident, no one from the school has contacted them about their granddaughter.
The spokesperson for the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education, Muzi Mahlambi, was contacted for comment, but none was received at the time of going to press.
