New parliamentarian hails from Ugu
Zama Khanyase was a teacher, before rising in political ranks.
The National Assembly speaker, Thoko Didiza, welcomed Zama Khanyase from Port Shepstone as a new member of parliament last week, following her swearing-in to serve the people of South Africa with integrity and honesty.
Khanyase, a Gamalakhe resident worked as a teacher, before rising in the political ranks and taking up the post of the ANC Youth League’s (ANCYL) national spokesperson for a few years.
Last year, Khanyase was elected as the national deputy secretary of the ANCYL at its elective conference.
Khanyase’s political activism has landed her in parliament to serve the people as a proud and patriotic citizen. She took the oath of office in front of other parliamentarians, committing herself to serving the needs of all South Africans without bias, but with honesty and respect. She also undertook to abide by all the laws and constitution in executing her duties.
Khanyase said on social media: “I am grateful to our officials of the ANCYL led by president Thlologelo Lethabo Malatji and secretary-general Tsakani Shiviti. I shall continue to use the platform to advance the interests of the youth and the people of South Africa as a whole, especially the marginalised.”
