ANC mourns comrade in Bhobhoyi
Lunga Maphumulo was described as disciplined member who rose above factional circles.
Scores of ANC members gathered at Lunga Maphumulo’s home in Bhobhoyi Ward 23 to mourn his untimely death recently.
Bhobhoyi ANC branch co-ordinator, Thembinkosi Ntuli, said a dark cloud had fallen on the Maphumulo family because a few weeks ago they had visited another Maphumulo family who had also lost a loved one in Ward 23 at Faith Voting Station.

“In dark days like these, people used to say, God has visited the mourning families and has called us to gather here for His purpose, but it’s never easy to accept deaths even though they are part of us. To the bereaved Maphumulo family, there is not much comfort we can give you other than words of mourning, full comfort will only come from God,” said Ntuli.
He said the ANC has lost a disciplined comrade who rose above factional circles. “Comrade Maphumulo knew the declaration we signed when we joined that we will serve the ANC selflessly without aiming to get material things and that we join voluntarily to be active members and participate in its programmes. Maphumulo did not get involved in factions and divisions of the ANC. He followed the mandate of the ANC and worked in a disciplined manner,” said Ntuli.
ANC leaders and members also visited the Cimela family last weekend, who lost their loved one and paid their last respects.
Maphumulo was laid to rest at his home at Jesus location with community members in attendance as well as ANC members, who sang their political songs.
