Man arrested after stolen vehicle traced to Margate

The vehicle was stolen and parked at a property in Bank Street, Margate.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a motor vehicle and a housebreaking in Marina Beach.

Saps Margate acted on information from a concerned member of the public about a vehicle suspected to have been stolen and parked at a property in Bank Street, Margate. Officers responded and recovered the vehicle, which was taken to the Saps pound for further investigation.

Further information led Margate Detective Service to Marina Beach, where the man was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle.

It is alleged that he broke into a residence in Puttick Drive while the owner was away in Gauteng, taking the vehicle and other household items.

Detectives later recovered the stolen property and vehicle, which were returned to the owner. The man is expected to appear in court again on April 9.
