Clr Jabulisile Patience Mntambo was described as a down to earth leader.
The ANC in the Tolomane Mnyayiza Region (TMR) and Umzumbe Municipality are mourning the death of Jabulisile Patience Mntambo.
At the time her death, 68-year-old Mntambo, widely known as Manah was a Ward 7 councillor in Umzumbe Municipality. She was ill for some time and died in hospital on March 22. She had been a councillor for five terms.
Speaking to this publication, ANC TMR spokesperson, Lindo Mzimela, said the region has been hit hard by the death of a beloved comrade, who was described as a grounded person who would not even harm an ant.
“Comrade Mntambo was a leader who was down to earth, she was trusted by the community she was serving and lived in. She was a person who was truthful under any circumstances. The people loved her for what she did for them,” said Mzimela.
“She was a brave and strong leader. Besides being a councillor she was also a community leader. We will try as the ANC to ensure whoever is taking over from her is a person of integrity, who will serve the community.”
Meanwhile, spokesperson for Umzumbe Municipality, Sabelo Ncwane, said the late Mntambo joined the institution in 2000, which made her the longest serving councillor in the municipality.
“Mntambo had incredible experience in the running of local government and driving of service delivery to the community,” said Ncwane.
He said on behalf of Mayor Bongani Nyuswa, councillors, employees, Ward 7 community, and the ANC condolences are extended to Mntambo’s family.
