Learners destress at sports day
The day was about fun and not serious competition.
Three schools under the Wesbury banner held a successful sports day at St Martin de Pores School recently. The schools, Westbury College of Science, Port Shepstone International and Hibberdene Academy met for fun and to destress after their first term examinations.
Director and owner of the three schools, Dr Akwasi Boadu, said the day was about fun and not serious competition. “Our learners have just finished writing their examinations for the first term and wanted to play soccer, netball and tug o war games. Our first soccer match was between Wesbury College of Science and Hibberdene Academy. Wesbury won 3-0. We do these games twice a year. The next sports day event will be held towards the end of the year,” said Boadu.
Hibberdene Academy principal Nosipho Zondi said: “We organised these games for our learners to destress after exams. Wesbury College netball team played against Hibberdene and we won 13-4.”
