Ugu District athletes thrive at karate champs
The medals were hard-fought and well deserved.
A group of Ugu karateka, from SKISA Port Shepstone, represented the province at the recent KSA children’s, cadets and junior national champs held in Durban.
It was a tough competition with competitors from all over South Africa in attendance.
Ugu karate was proud of the athletes who medalled at the event.
They were Tyler Gous (bronze 12/13 individual kumite), Miguel Gous (bronze 16/17 individual kumite), Layla Gous (silver team kata and silver individual 10/11 kumite), Neriah Peeriyilal (silver team kata and gold individual 10/11 kumite), Sarah Sahli (silver team kata and silver individual 12/13 kumite).
Ugu karate chairperson Coenie Vrey praised the karateka for their hard work and commitment in representing the region at a national level.
