All systems go for Maskandi festival in Umzumbe
The festival will feature a mix of top artists such as Inkosi YamaGcokama, Khuzani, Bahubhe, Mjolisi, Menzi, and Ntencane, and more.
Mtwalume and surrounds will experience the first-of-its-kind Umzumbe Maskandi Festival set to take place on June 16.
Founder of the event, Eve Amanda Mseleku, said at a media briefing at Eve’s Lounge last week, that her aim is not to only provide entertainment, but to uplift local talent and businesses through the developmental programmes within the festival that will create platforms to place Umzumbe on the map.
The venue is Esibanini Primary, and the festival will feature a mix of top artists such as Inkosi YamaGcokama, Khuzani, Bahubhe, Mjolisi, Menzi, and Ntencane, just to name a few.
Mseleku added the event also aims to boost local talent and entrepreneurs, providing a platform for emerging artists, chefs, and tourism businesses to shine.
“We are aiming to bring a unique event to the Umzumbe community. Beyond entertainment, the festival is expected to have a positive economic impact by supporting local vendors, accommodation providers, and small businesses.”
Among other activities that will be included on the programme are food villages with local flavours, workshops for local entrepreneurs, local craft and trade vendors.
