Ezinqoleni career expo empowers learners

Different high school learners and teachers from the area had an opportunity to be guided with careers.

The Speaker of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, Nontombeko Boyce, along with the Deputy Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Phumzile Mgcina, hosted a career expo at Dlovinga Hall in Ezinqoleni on April 10.

The Career Exhibition Expo saw different high school learners exposed to guidance on avenues of study after matric.

Various industries such as health, education, mining and many more gave learners an opportunity ask questions and learn more.

Deputy Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources Phumzile Mgcina and Speaker of the KZN Legislature Nontombeko Boyce.

Boyce said that this initiative forms part of the legislature’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public participation, education and community empowerment.

She also highlighted the importance of ensuring that learners, especially those from underprivileged communities are equipped with the right information to shape their futures.

“This expo is about closing the gap between potential and opportunity. Too often, young people in rural areas are held back not by lack of ambition, but by lack of access. As the legislature, we are committed to making sure every learner has the knowledge and support needed to make informed decisions about their future.”

Learners shared that the expo broadened their horizons, as they now have a clearer picture as to what to they would like pursue career-wise after matric.
