Ugu manager shot dead

Ntokozo Mkhize was described as a supportive, loving and friendly person.

A supply chain manager at Ugu District Municipality, Ntokozo Mkhize was allegedly shot dead by her husband Vusi Shinga at their home in Amanzimtoti last Saturday.
It is alleged that Shinga then turned the gun on himself.

KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said Amanzimtoti police are investigating cases of murder and inquest after the bodies of a man and a woman were found lying in a pool of blood. “It is alleged that the man shot and fatally wounded his wife before turning the gun on himself.”

Colonel Netshiunda said the cause of the shooting is subject to a police investigation.
Mkhize joined the municipality in March 2005 and served in the budget and treasury department. The mayor of Ugu, Sikhumbuzo Mqadi on behalf of council and the municipality sent condolences to the Mkhize family, colleagues and friends.

Mkhize’s sister, Mpume Mkhize said the couple had minor issues which the family was aware of. “We knew they had problems but they could have been dealt with. We didn’t think it would end this way.”
She described her sister as a very supportive, loving and friendly person. “She took care of everyone and supported other families financially.”

Mkhize is survived by her two sons, aged 20 and three.
