Windfall for lucky bowlers
THE 300 Club draw was done at the recent council meeting, with Rita Zitsman from Munster winning the R1 000 prize.
Denise Wepenar from The Village won R500, John Mitchley from AMBC won R300, Aubrey Watson from The Village won R200 and Desiré Krause from The Bell won R100.
The R50 prizes went to Duncan Randall from The Bell, Brenda Smith from Riverside, Barbara Brook from Margate and Bill Parfitt from The Village.
A reminder that the entries for the All KZN Singles close this Friday, July 31.
BANNERS REST
THE Banners Rest women’s pairs on July 22 was cancelled due to inclement weather.
Congratulations to Amy Körner, this year’s women’s club singles champion.
Note closing date for the club handicap singles championship is July 31, and that all matches (both drawn pairs and handicap singles) must be completed before end August.
The next sponsored competition is the Tops Port Edward men’s pairs this Sunday, August 2.

HIBBERDENE
NORMAN Aiston, Jill Whitmore and Helene Oosthuizen won the drawn mixed trips last Friday.

The special general meeting held after the competition last Friday was to appoint an auditor, and Neil Read and Co was selected.

MARGATE BC
ELLEN Cawker, Barbara Brook, Pam Cole-Cook and Vi Pells are congratulated on reaching the semi-finals of the KZN Women’s Fours.
Play was called off due to inclement weather and will commence again on a date to be confirmed.
The winners of the Uvongo Spar Open 2-4-2, played last Friday, were Bob Smith and Peet Trollip, followed by Lignaut and Brian Smallberger.
First session went to Trevor Heywood and Philip Audibert, and second session to James Mitchell and Derek Mckechnie.
The next sponsored tournament will be the Margate Panelbeaters Men’s 2-4-2 on Friday, August 7.

THE Shelly Beach SuperSpar Mixed Trips held last Tuesday was won by Bill Brown, Barry Herbert and Yvonne Bausek.
Runners-up were Graham and Anji Gold and Albert van der Lith. Session prize went to Annette Payne, Trevor Haywood and Danny McCarthy.
Herman Scheinberg was the lucky 50/50 draw winner.
The men’s trips takes place on August 4, with the women’s fours on August 7. Both games to be played at Margate BC.
MUNSTER
DOLPHIN Pub & Grill sponsored the recent open trips, which was won by Tommie and Louise Dry, with Willie Smith.
Runners-up were Tony and Val Smith, with Hedley Meek.
Second session went to Graham and Anji Gold with Cliff Moakes.
The High Rock Restaurant mixed trips was won by Tommie Dry, Margaret Moakes and Ella Smith, from Cliff Moakes and Tienie and Lenie Prinsloo.
Second session went to Albert and Eileen van der Lith, with Helen Cock.

PORT SHEPSTONE
TELEPAGE sponsored last Friday’s Business Challenge, which was won by The Youngsters, namely Gavin Nadauld, Mike Nadauld and Dave van Tichelen.

The Mariners Open Fours takes place on Thursday, August 6.

THE Dr D’Arcy sponsored men’s trips was won by that popular and entertaining trio of Alan Jacobs, Duncan Randall and Hew Hodgson.
Runners-up were Renzo van Niekerk, Dawie Schlebusch and Tony Olivant. The second session prize went to Jan and Jaques Snyman and Taubie Jonker.
Unfortunately the keenly anticipated ‘bowls cricket’ game with Hibberdene scheduled for Sunday was washed out because of the rain.
THE BELL
WINNERS of the 2-4-2 sponsored by Fruit & Veg City were Brian Sapsford and Anne-Marie Giblin.
Runners-up were Duncan Randall and Angela Moorehouse. Second session prize went to Gary le Brasse and Val Boshoff.

TWENI
SHEENAGH Dempster and Winnie Hess won the G&K Women’s 2-4-2 played last Thursday 23 from second-placed Jane Massam and Sandy Shepherd.
The session was taken by Barbara Fernihough and Susan Fourie.
The next event is the Harbour View SuperSpar (in house) Mixed Pairs on Friday, August 7.

VILLAGE
THE Fruit & Veg Drawn Mixed Trips will be held this Saturday, August 1. Although other sponsored competitions are now cancelled, tabs-in will continue until further notice.
Please put your names on the list if you wish to play in the annual Interclub Challenge against Umdoni Village on August 12. The cost will be R45 each for tea and lunch.
The RAC Draw and bring and braai will be held on Friday, August 7, with bingo on August 14, subject to clubhouse renovations.
