Champ of Champs coming up
IT will a quieter time now for KBA, as most of the competitions are done with for the year.
All men who are interested in representing Kingfisher in the 2016 Inter Districts are asked to give Brian Rawlins their name and contact number for consideration. Brian can be contacted at 083 2726566.
The Champion of Champions will be held at The Bell on August 29, 30 and 31 and the Preliminary Masters at Margate on September 12 and 13.
BANNERS REST
THE Sasfin drawn mixed fours played last Wednesday was won by Peter Ziervögel, Sergio Ruperto, Yvonne Fillis and Ally Weir.
Placed second were Rod Phelps, Leoni Booth, Jenny Rennie and Mike Carter, and in third position were Peter Bennett, Anji Gold, Leoni Bloem and Myra Doubell.
The spider went to Hazel Delaney, and the 50/50 board to Ally Weir.
Winners of the Tops Port Edward men’s pairs played last Sunday were Aubrey Hood and Derrick Ott, with runners-up Andreas van der Linde and Steve Rennie.
Second session was won by Dice Graaff and Ray Martin who also collected the 50/50 board.
Next sponsored competitions are the Banners Rest mixed pairs this Friday, August 7, and the SuperSpar Port Edward mixed trips on Wednesday, August 12.

HIBBERDENE
THE 2-4-2 mixed pairs played last Friday was won by Jan Venter and Gloria Gerrard, with Bez and Bubbles Bezuidenhout the runners-up.
Session prize was won by John and Judy Hoyer (keeping some of the prize money in the family!). Thanks to Mike Hoyer for the sponsorship.
The Jolly Bowls Day last Sunday was very well supported and successful. Some very promising bowlers were seen and heard.
What a pity they all work and do not have the days to play social bowls. Thanks to all who supported the day, including the bar and catering staff.
The next competition is the nominated mixed trips, sponsored by Tiago’s.
PORT EDWARD
WINNERS of the mixed pairs last Friday were Joe Ashworth and Leoni Booth with runners-up Jokkie van Buuren and Lynn Walton.
Session prize went to Marianne van Buuren and Grant Walton.
Well done Barry Payn for adding the men’s handicap singles to his list of titles after beating Greg Fifield in the final. Tabs-in social bowls will take place on Saturday afternoon, after the annual Women’s Day competition in the morning, as well as Wednesday next week.
The AGM will take place on Wednesday, August 26 after social bowls.
Nominations list for the 2016 committee is on the notice board in the clubhouse.
PORT SHEPSTONE
THE South Coast Herald sponsored the women’s fours last Thursday. Thank you for the generous support over many years.
Winners were Jenny Rawlins, Gill Thiele, Sharon Bischoff and Julie Ross, with runners-up Kobie Stander, Dora Vosloo and Winnie Hess.
The Sunday trips competition was sponsored by Harbour View SuperSpar. Winners were Keith Mills, Tammy Gibbons and Charles Murgatroyd.
Runners-up were Geoff Hudson, John Nadauld and Rick Thompson.
Session prize went to Peet van Rooyen, Susan Fourie and Kevin Mullen.
Thank you to Gill Thiele for organising this competition in Eddie Fann’s absence and thank you to all the players who remained for the very festive prize-giving.
Well done to Jenny Rawlins and Sharon Bischoff on reaching the semi-finals of the KZN Pairs Championship. It is always sad to lose by one shot.

RIVERSIDE
JOHN Gibson and Brian Cross won the Fruit & Veg 2-4-2 last week, from Rassie Erasmus and Helen Proctor.
First session went to Brenda Smith and Dick Thompson and second session to Edna Beckett and Brian Muir.
The Cupboard Value Two Bowl Trips will be this Sunday, August 9 (Women’s Day). Entry fee is R180 per team, which includes an English breakfast buffet and a light lunch.
Coaching is available every Saturday morning for anyone interested in playing bowls, from 9am. Contact the club at 039 3151144.
SOUTHBROOM
WELL done to Chris Faber, Kobus Faber and Richard Derman who won the Wolf Security Open Trips last Thursday.
Runners-up were Steve Rennie, John Keppler and Jenny Rennie. First session winners were Rod Phelps, Peter Bennett and Mary Phelps.
Second session went to Ina Malan, Carl Volker and Elliot Nqoko; 50/50 to Ina Malan. Bingo has been cancelled for the moment.
Everyone is asked to please complete their club matches.
SOUTHPORT
THE Fruit & Veg In House Pairs held last Tuesday was won by Johan McLeod and Hennie Greyling.
Hennie, being a country member, said goodbye to the club and returned to Gauteng, promising to see members on his holiday again next year.
The runners-up were Ann Barkway and Richard Cochman, while third place went to Brian Marriott and Jane Massam.
The next competition will be the Harbour View |SuperSpar Women’s Trips to be held on August 11.
The club gave condolences to both Val Bedecker and Allen Wallace on their recent bereavements.
THE BELL
WINNERS of the mixed trips played last Friday were Peet van Rooyen, Susan Fourie and Kevin Mullen.
Runners-up were Michelle and Louw Vermeulen with Keith Harcombe. Second session went to Mike King with Richard and Kitty Cochman.
Congratulations to Daphne Sapsford and Keith Harcombe, who are the club singles champions.
They will be representing The Bell at the Champion of Champions on August 29. Your support would be appreciated.
There will be a tabs-in competition on August 16, lots of prizes and fun for all, so please come along.
Teams for the Springs Old Boys weekend on August 8 and 9 are on the window.
TWENI
THE committee for the new year is Tony Aveyard (president) assisted by eight committee members, including Jean Celliers (secretary), Jenny Graham (treasurer) and Astrid Jackson (competition secretary).
A huge thanks to the outgoing committee and for everything achieved.

VILLAGE
DAVE Garland, Trevor Smith and Bill Reed won the Fruit & Veg Drawn Mixed Trips, followed by Barry Christie, Rosalie Bloom and Charlotte van Niekerk.
In third place were Ali Mitchell, Hillary Fick and Irene Holland.
Competitions have been cancelled until renovations to the clubhouse have been completed. Thank you to competition sponsors. Tabs-in will continue until further notice.
Please put your names on the list if you wish to play in the Annual Inter-club Challenge against Umdoni Village on August 12.
The cost will be R45 each for tea and lunch.
