Districts squads chosen
WELL done to Louw Vermeulen from The Bell and Ellen Cawker from Margate Bowling Club for winning the The Re/Max Overall Bowlers of the Year Award, a really fantastic achievement.
The Hibiscus Retirement Village’s KBA Bowler of the Year was won by Keith Harcombe, also from The Bell, and Helen Turk from AMBC.
The Club of the Year Award went to The Bell.
Squads selected in preparation for the Inter-District Tournament to be held in April 2016 are as follows:

The final district teams will be announced at the Colours Day and Players’ Association AGM which has been postponed from November 29 this year to February 14 next year.

The R50 prizes were won by Colin Hudson, Jean Cliff, Louise Mann and Peter Giblin.

THE outing at Riverside Bowling Club last Sunday resulted in a wonderful outcome, with 31 Nomads players and four visitors players.

MEN’S and women’s handicap singles knockout games were played last Saturday. Congratulations to Rae Barber, Pauline Dunlop, Ann Gibson and Cheryl Thompson; Dave Barber, Stefan Helberg, Leo Niese and Mike Thompson, who will play the semi-finals and finals this Saturday.

SOUTHBROOM
HOW welcome was the rain last week? The green is looking healthy with the new growth coming through.
Don’t forget the club is open on Friday evenings from 5pm.
This week something special will also take place, with Brent Addison giving a talk about his scuba diving experiences and the fascinating people he has met, never mind the huge variety of fish he has seen.
He even found a new species and has it named after himself.

SOUTHPORT
THE Ladies’ Interclub Trips held last Thursday between Hibberdene, Umtentweni, The Bell and Southport was a memorable event.
The Bell had its seven-year winning streak brought to an end, and only after a count back on shots, in this closely contested tournament.
The home club, Southport, was overjoyed at having been declared winners, and are now very proud holders of the shield.
The second round of the ‘Two Bowl Trips’ continued last Friday. On the count of shots scored the team of Jane Massam, Kitty Cochman and Werner Mody have nosed ahead on the ladder, having won both games in the league.
The South Coast Herald sponsored Mixed Trips 2-4-2 to be held today (Thursday, October 15) is a popular and much looked-forward-to event.
The Men’s Trips, sponsored by Dr D’Arcy, will take place on Thursday, October 22.
UMTENTWENI
WINNERS of the South Coast Herald Men’s Pairs played last Tuesday were Bez Bezuidenhout and Bruce Hoyer.
Peet van Rooyen and Steve O’Moore were runners-up and the second session prize went to Tony Korb and Dumisani Mdlala.
The next competition will the 3rd Avenue Restaurant Mixed Fours this Friday.
Ten prospective new bowlers joined the normal tabs crowd in a fun-filled morning of bowls last Sunday.
The bowls was followed by a delicious waffle lunch. Many thanks to all who put so much into the day to make it a success.
