REGRETTABLY, the season opening Tops Port Edward men’s pairs was cancelled due to inclement weather.
Next sponsored competition is the Port Edward SuperSpar 2-bowl mixed trips next Wednesday, November 11.
The KBA Saturday league team selection, together with game dates and venues is posted on the notice board, with the first rounds to take place on November 14.
HIBBERDENE
FINALLY, the green is open for bowling. Today (Thursday) there will be a happy hour or two, with vetkoek on sale.
The drawn trips – or fours depending on attendance – will be tomorrow (Friday) at 1.45pm for 2pm. The sponsor is Tiago’s.

MARGATE BC
WINNERS of the Margate Panelbeaters 2-4-2 played last Friday were Dave Hume and John Keppler, followed by Andrea Blignaut and Manny Rodrigues.
Session prizes went to Bill Brown and Rennie Geyer, as well as Gerry Davey and David James.
The ‘Toys for Joy’ fund-raising dinner/dance with a Mexican theme will take place on Saturday, November 28.
Tickets are available from Johnny Louch at 083 2539825. Each ticket holder is also requested to bring along a soft toy for distributing to the underprivileged.
The monthly ‘Quiz’ evening will be held on Wednesday, November 18. There will be a ‘Development Day’ on Sunday, November 15.

MARGATE CC
THE club hosted the annual Warwick Wealth Invitational Open Fours competition recently.
Skips were invited from other clubs that support the club’s competitions throughout the year.
Teams were invited from Margate BC, The Bell, Banners Rest, Port Edward and the Village to compete against some of our own skips.
The weather was brilliant and 48 players enjoyed the strong competition experienced on the day.
Due to the format used, the final outcome cannot be predicted until the final bowl of the afternoon has been bowled.
Eventual winners were MCC’s Kobie Stander, Dora Vosloo, Helen Proctor and Winnie Hess (from Port Shepstone), who only just pipped, by a five ‘shot difference’, the strong team comprising Shane Nienaber, Dieter Scholz, Jerry Davey and Ross Ferguson, all from Margate BC.
Both teams ended up on equal points. Third was also a very strong team from Margate BC, namely Ellen Cawker, Jessica Henderson, Athol Robertson and Tom Cawker.
MUNSTER
GREENS open this Saturday, November 7, with tabs in at 1.30pm for 2pm.
Bowls will be followed by a bring and braai and the November draw of the 30 Club.
Visitors welcome. Remember BYOB.
NOMADS
THE next Nomad’s outing will be at Southbroom BC this Sunday, November 8 at 8.30am for 9am.
There will be bring and braai after the competition. All bowlers are welcome to join in with the Nomads.
PORT EDWARD
THE green is in perfect condition and is ready for a super season.
It will be re-opened for the Wally Brass Friendship Cup this Saturday, November 7. Tabs in at 1.30pm for 2pm.
It will be appreciated if members would bring a plate of snacks. All Welcome.
Thanks to those who contributed to and attended the quiz and Halloween party. Everyone had a wonderful time and many great prizes were handed out.

First session went to Gordon Ogilvie and Chrissie Chancellor and second session to Ray Visser and Heather Flyng.
The next ‘Pony Evening’ is this Friday, November 6, starting with twilight bowls from 3pm, followed by a fun quiz and bring and braai.
Mike Taylor is out hospital and recovering nicely.
Tabs in on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays are from 1.45pm for 2pm.
SOUTHBROOM
CONGRATS to Julie Moorley and John Bailey on winning the club’s first competition of the new season, the Fazenda 2-4-2, last Friday. A delicious meal awaits them at the restaurant.
Wonderful being back at bowls and everyone is wished good bowling. The rinks are smooth and the company excellent.
SOUTHPORT
THE Fruit and Veg in house 2-4-2 was won by Rynier van Tonder and Fanie Strydom. Runners-up were Sheugnet Pretorius and Richard Cochman, while Jane Massam and Rentie Stevens came third.
The Harbour View SuperSpar women’s trips were won by Ann Barkway, Denise Nel and Sandy Shepherd.
Sharolyn Dacey, Michelle Vermeulen and Julie Cornwell were runners-up with Marie Coetzer, Barbara Gradwell and Miriam Seagar taking the second session prize.
The third leg of the ‘Twilight League Two Bowl Trips’ will continue this Friday (6th) at 3pm.
The South Coast Herald mixed 2-4-2 is on November 12.
Thirty members and partners enjoyed a wonderful evening at Orcas Restaurant last Wednesday.
TWENI
DESPITE the fact that no bowls were played because of the weather the ‘Georgie’ hobo day turned out to be a great fun day and lot of effort went into dressing the theme.
The best hobos were Tammy Gibbons and Jacque Snyman.
The next competitions will be the Harbour View SuperSpar mixed pairs this Friday (6th) in the afternoon, and the Schooners Restaurant mixed trips on Monday (9th).
Don’t forget the special general meeting on November 18 at 2pm.
THE BELL
DAPHNE Sapsford, Mada Lindeque and Charles Murgatroyd won the mixed trips last Friday.
Runners-up were Lynne Bamber, Cindy McMurtrie and Mike Hoyer. Second session went to Kieron Dacey, Sandy van Niekerk and Steve O’Moore.
The next Sunday chicken and egg fun competition will be played on the morning of November 15.
The Christmas party will be held on December 13 and promises to be an enjoyable afternoon.
VILLAGE
B GREEN is up and running, so tabs in before 1.30pm, with mufti during the week and whites on Saturdays.
The draw for the nominated men’s and women’s championship pairs will be on November 12.
Play is one round a week, finals to be completed by December 12.

Don’t forget the Boma Branch for ‘get-togethers’ on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 4pm till 6pm, and after bowls on Saturdays.
