Wayne’s World: Fun, fun, fun
Not everyone thought the South Coast Striders fun run was that much 'fun'.
SO I got drilled and questioned till my ears bled last Friday night about why a fun run is called a fun run.
All I did in response was laugh because the people that were complaining happened to be regular runners.
South Coast Striders held the first of their monthly 5km/10km fun run/walks at the clubhouse in Edward Avenue in Uvongo.
The route weaved in and out of every little street and avenue I could find in the vicinity of the start and finish and, yes, there might have been two or three little hills involved.
But the twisty route was generally well received by the majority of the 84 runners and walkers, who are all looking forward to next month’s run.
The clubhouse was opened after the event for drinks and a braai and a lot of interest was shown by people wanting to join the club next year.
The next fun run will be held on Friday, November 27 at 5.30pm, same venue.
It will be a festive Christmas-themed dress up with lucky draw and best-dressed prizes.
The club’s year-end function will be held this Saturday, November 7 at 4pm.

Time trials take place at the club every Wednesday at 5.15pm for walkers and 5.15pm for runners.
Boerewors rolls and chicken burgers will be sold.
Fit, fast walkers will meet at the Croc Farm this Sunday, November 8 at 5.30am to do a 15km walk.
