MATT Redinger scored the first T20 century of the season, smashing the Douglas Mitchell attack to all parts of the field at Port Shepstone Country Club last Sunday.
Douglas Mitchell won the toss and elected to field first.
The Country Club innings got off to a shaky start, with Dirk Coetzee out in the second over.
Matt joined Jacques Badenhorst at the crease when the score was on four. They put on a handy partnership of 68.
Matt took the fight to DMCC, scoring 121 not out off 61 balls, hitting five fours and 11 sixes.
He took special interest in Keegan Ray, the leading wicket taker in the competition, and belted him for six sixes and five fours.
Keegan’s bowling figures after four overs were 0/58.
Some advice from a spectator that Keegan should have had a couple of fielders in the trees around the ground didn’t seem to help.
Country Club ended up scoring 198/4 in 20 overs.
In reply, DMCC started off like a house on fire, with Dirkie Botes scoring 28 and DMCC old boy Terry du Preez top scoring with 29.
In the end, the pressure of scoring at more than 12 an over was just too much for DMCC and they fell short by 37 runs.
