Interdistricts teams for 2016 announced

THE KBA president, executive and selectors have taken great pleasure in announcing the 2016 interdistrict teams to represent the districts at the tournament in Edenvale in April 2016.

Women’s open side: Ellen Cawker, Maureen Muller, Heather Roberts and Vi Pells with Jessica Henderson, Marie Coetzer, Dora Vosloo and Pam Cole-Cook. (Manager Barbara Brook).

Women’s senior side: Kobie Stander, Lynette James, Georgie McKechnie and Helen Proctor with Daphne Sapsford, Liesje de Rosner, Helen Turk and Mada Lindeque. (Manager Gae Gravell.)

BANNERS REST

RODERICK and Mary Phelps won the GP Security mixed pairs last Friday. Runners-up were Peter Ziervögel and Vi Pells.

Second session went to Graham and Anjie Gold, and the 50/50 board to Vi Pells.

Once again the Tops Port Edward men’s pairs was cancelled due to rain.

Next sponsored competition is the Peg & Punter mixed trips on Wednesday, December 16.

Birthday wishes go to Roderick Phelps (14th) and Ann McAllister (16th).

HIBBERDENE

THE rained out Tiago’s drawn pairs were finally played last week Wednesday and won by Maureen Jonker and Napier Verster.

In second place were Roger Burwood and Bubbles Bezuidenhout. Session prize went to Eddie Milne and Judy Aiston.

The nominated mixed trips were played last Friday and won by Ollie and Marie Coetzer, with Tabie Jonker.

Runners-up were Jan and Helene Oosthuizen, with Danie Human. Session prize went to Arthur and Miriam Seager, with Joey Venter.

Again, a big thank you to Tiago’s for the sponsorship.

The next competition takes place this Friday (11th) and is sponsored by Hibberdene Pharmacy.

MARGATE BC

WINNERS of the Halfway Toyota men’s 2-4-2 played last Friday were Ian Hutton and Allan Dinning, from runners-up Dave Hume and John Keppler.

First session went to Gary Hess and Dereck Schorn, with the second session going to Shane Nienaber and Dieter Scholz.

Next sponsored competitions will be the Uvongo Spar open trips this Friday afternoon (11th), with boerewors rolls afterwards, followed by the Manaba Kwikspar women’s 2-4-2 on Friday, December 18, in the morning.

The annual Christmas club lunch will be held this Sunday, December 13. Please enter your names on the list should you wish to attend. Women to please bring a pudding.

The Christmas pantomime will be held on Saturday, December 19.

Women are reminded to try and get the first rounds of the club competition played as soon as possible. R10 per competition to be posted before commencement of first game.

MARGATE CC

WELL done to Kobie Stander and Helen Proctor who were selected for the KBA seniors interdistrict team, and to Dora Vosloo on making the open team.

They will play in the interdistrict tournament in April next year.

MUNSTER

PETER and Serena Ziervogel won the Indulgence mixed pairs last week.

Runners-up were Tommie and Louise Dry. Second session went to Gawie Bosman and Sera Koekemoer.

Carols by Candlelight will be held at the club on Friday, December 18 at 6.30pm for 7pm. All welcome.

Cost is R30 pp which includes a candle, song sheet and snacks.

Tabs in on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 1.30pm for 2pm. Visitors welcome.

PORT EDWARD

THE Winter Wonderland Spit Braai for Christmas is fully booked for Wednesday, December 16.

If you ever wanted to dress up as an angel or Father Christmas, this is your opportunity.

The roof project is progressing well, thanks to those who have worked so hard.

Winners of the Realty Port Edward competition were Jokkie van Buuren, Marianne van Buuren and Estelle Carter.

Runners-up were Barry Payn, Trevor Smith and Phillipa Rowney. Session went to Rob Lyle, Mike Gower and Derek Wicks.

RIVERSIDE

THE Kingfisher Bowling Association women’s Saturday League and men’s Fours League will be played at the club this Saturday (12th).

Pony Night has been postponed until the new year.

SOUTHBROOM

ALL the best to the club’s competition secretary, Heather Roberts, on being chosen to represent the KBA for the open interdistrict side next year.

The Mariners open fours were won by Shane Nienaber, Dieter Scholtz, Barbara Brook and John Richards.

Runners-up were Barry Payn, Peter Ziervogel, Mike Gower and Phillipa Rowney.

First session to John Sutton, Betty Bolton, Manny Rodrigues and Yvonne Bausek; second session to Steve Rennie, Aubrey Hood, Glen Allen and John Keppler. 50/50 to Val Kirkbright.

Remember to come and support the Christmas quiz this Friday evening (11th) at 6pm. Food served at 6pm.

SOUTHPORT

THE in-house two-bowl trips league continued last Friday with Tom Semple’s team now leading the league.

Rynier van Tonder’s trio is only one point behind, and these two teams clash on January 8.

The Christmas function held last Saturday turned out to be an overwhelming success. Much high spirited goings-on were in evidence throughout the evening.

The South Coast Herald mixed 2-4-2 takes place today (10th).

Next Thursday, December 17 will see the South Coast Herald women’s fours take place in the morning and the Dr D’Arcy sponsored men’s trips in the afternoon.

TWENI

WHAT wonderful rain we have experienced over the last week! It has assisted tremendously in terms of the annual greens maintenance.

As mentioned last week, the green is looking superb. One can only hope that the rest of the country gets good rains soon, to break what has become a devastating drought.

It is hoped that green keeper Dumisani Madlala will give the nod to open the green in time for the Christmas party on December 19.

If he does, members will start off the festivities by having a game of 10 ends at 11am, followed by lunch at 12.30pm.

The Christmas show will start at 3pm. If you would like to take part, please contact Tony Aveyard.

VILLAGE

THE men will be playing the last league match for this year at the Village this Saturday afternoon, so only four rinks will be available for social bowls.

If you don’t wish to play then come and support our teams.

The KBA diaries are available from Hazel at R20 and she is also collecting R60 for the KBA 300 Club.

Don’t forget the Boma Branch for ‘get-togethers’ on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4pm till 6pm.

There will be no sponsored competitions at the club until further notice.
