BANNERS REST

THE Port Edward SuperSpar two-bowl trips played last Wednesday resulted in a win for Joe Ashworth, Leoni Booth and John Keppler.

Runners-up were Dan Delaney, Leonie Bloem and Frank Foley. Second session went to Mike Gower, Val Smith and Pat Brand, and the 50/50 board to Amy Körner.

Final sponsored competition for the year is the Indulgence Beauty Salon open pairs on Wednesday, December 23, which from next January will be played on a ladder system.

Entries are open for the 2016 club championships, forms on the notice board.

Birthday wishes go to Jaye Russell on December 23, and seasons greetings to all bowlers and residents of Banners Rest Village.

HIBBERDENE

WINNERS of the nominated mixed trips played last Friday were Arthur and Miriam Seager, with Bubbles Bezuidenhout.

Second were Ann Matthysen, Rentie Stevens and Corrie Sellner. Session prize was won by Gloria Gerrard, Fay Patterson and Dennis ‘The Menace’ Lewis.

Many thanks to Hibberdene Pharmacy for the generous sponsorship.

The next competition is this Friday (18th), sponsored by Harcourts Scott Bay.

New bowlers are more than welcome to come and try their hand on Tuesday mornings from 9am. Wednesday afternoons from 2pm and Saturday afternoons from 2pm.

MARGATE BC

WELL done to the women’s league teams who retained their places in the first and second leagues for next year.

Winners of the Uvongo Spar Open 2-4-2 played last Friday were Graham and Pauline Dunlop. Runners-up were Roy Baker and Oscar Pienaar.

First session went to Glen and Elsabe (visitors, didn’t get their surnames); second session to Denzil Massyn and Gary Hess.

Next sponsored competition will be the Manaba Kwikspar Women’s 2-4-2 this Friday (18th).

Thanks are extended to all those who contributed to the success of the annual Christmas lunch. The Christmas pantomime will be held this Saturday (19th).

Women are reminded to try and get the first rounds of the club competition played as soon as possible.

MUNSTER

PIET Heunis and Rob Lyle won the Nanami Nursery men’s pairs last Friday. Congratulations to Piet and Rob on achieving a double perfect eight!

Runners-up were Dave Hume and Leigh Warner. Second session to Jokkie van Buuren and Mike Gower; board to Rob Lyle.

Carols by Candlelight this Friday (18th) at 6.30pm for 7pm.

The committee wishes the members and all fellow bowlers a very blessed Christmas and a happy new year.

PORT EDWARD

THE Indulgence Beauty Salon mixed trips were won by Rod and Mary Phelps with Joe Ashworth.

Runners-up were Dan Delaney, John Keppler and Pat Brand. Session prize went to Dave Hume, Leigh Warner and Estelle Carter.

The bowling green is in absolutely wonderful condition, much appreciation to Jokkie van Buuren.

In addition, the veranda roof is up and a real ‘wow’ factor.

Congratulations to the A team men who stood together and made it possible for it to be finished before the Winter Wonderland Christmas spit braai.

Happy birthday to Sariena Ziervogel (19th), Joy Otto (20th) and Willie McKenzie (21st).

RIVERSIDE

THE Hopden’s Spar competition was won by Chummy Smith, Butch Bruce, Bill Eccles and Dennis Rehbock.

Runners-up were Graham Dunlop, Sharon Smith and Dina van der Walt.

Sessions went to Madge Nicolson, Yvonne Anderson, Ann Osbourn and Dick Thompson.

Second session went to Edna Beckett, Ann Gibson and Jo Olivier.

SOUTHBROOM

THE committee wishes all bowlers a wonderful, peaceful and blessed Christmas.

Thank you for all the support given to the club throughout the past year. Also, thank you for all the happy times on the bowling green and in the clubhouse.

SOUTHPORT

BOB Moroney and Val Bedecker won the South Coast Herald sponsored mixed 2-4-2 played last Thursday.

Runners-up were Mike King and Kitty Cochman. The second session prize went to Tom Semple and Sandy Shepherd.

Today (17th) is a very busy day at the club as the Harbour View SuperSpar women’s trips takes place this morning, followed by the Dr D’Arcy sponsored men’s trips in the afternoon.

The final competition for the year is the Geochem mixed trips which will be played this Sunday afternoon (20th).

The club is proud of its two representatives selected by the Kingfisher Bowling Association, namely Jane Massam for the Women’s President’s side and Cosmos Gumede for the Men’s B side.

THE BELL

WINNERS of the open trips sponsored by Jaxx and Venture Inn were Keith Harcombe, Louw Vermeulen and Kevin Mullen.

Runners-up were Renzo van Niekerk, Dawie Schlebusch and Martin Frizelle. Second session went to Rassie Erasmus, Sandy van Niekerk and Phil Viljoen.

Winners of the Captain’s Anchor mixed fours were Daphne Sapsford, Mada Lindeque, Rassie Erasmus and Charles Murgatroyd.

Runners-up were Louw Vermeulen, Peet van Rooyen, Susan Fourie and Charmaine van Deventer.

Session winners were Maureen Head, Tina Barbour, Barry Krause and Phil Viljoen.

The Christmas lunch was a great success, many thanks to the caterer Louis Marx for the lovely food.

The women’s Saturday league has finished – well done to all three sides that played.

Congratulations to Barbara Fernihough, Rita Dommett, Val Boshoff, Maureen Head, Susan Fourie and Angela Moorehouse who won their section.

Entry forms are on the board for the nationals and Pro 10 tournaments.

TWENI

WELL done to the club’s men’s fours team which won their league division namely Jan Huygen, Dennis Graham, Tony Aveyard and Mike Finlay.

The Christmas party this Saturday (19th) will start at 12.30pm, followed by the show.

Due to all the wonderful rain experienced, the green keeper has not given the nod the open the greens. See you all at the party.

VILLAGE

SATURDAY League has finished for the year so please come and play tabs again.

The KBA diaries are still available from Hazel at R20 and she is also collecting R60 for the KBA 300 Club.

Don’t forget the Boma Branch for ‘get-togethers’ on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4pm till 6pm.
