THE Margate Invitational Pairs held last weekend was a great success, and thanks are extended to Ula and Dieter Scholz for their sponsorship and to Barbara Brook for her input in helping organise the event.
Eddie Fann and Peet Trollip won the men’s division, with Gerry Davey and Mark Smith the runners-up. In third place were Shane Nienaber and Keith Harcombe.
Winning the women’s division were Pam Cole-Cook and Dora Vosloo, from Marie Coetzer and Georgie McKechnie. Third place went to Franci Philpott and Leonie Booth.
The next sponsored tournament is the Manaba Kwikspar women’s 2-4-2 on Friday, January 22.

GOOD news! The re-opening of the greens happened last Wednesday , combined with Chairman’s Day and sponsored by Food Lover’s Market.
All enjoyed the lovely green grass and the competition was won by Bill Brown, Helen Proctor and Peta Egerton.
Runners-up were Gae Gravell, Chrissie Chancellor, Jo Olivier and Dina van der Walt.
Third prize went to Barry Herbert, Martiens Olivier and Sandy Johnston.
The women’s fours held last week and sponsored by The Hair Shoppe was won by Kobie Stander, Eileen Lloyd, Marie Rodgers and Winnie Hess.

SOUTHPORT
CHEG Chegwidden and Tom Semple won the Fruit & Veg in-house pairs held over last Tuesday.
Runners-up were Bob Moroney and Val Bedecker, while third place was taken by Ann Barkway and Richard Cochman.
Second session went to Don Rousseau and Werner Mody.
The social in-house cricket played last Sunday between much-needed rain showers included several players who had not played bowls before.
Naturally, high spirits and much laughter prevailed. Nellis Hattingh took the batting prize by notching up the most runs, while Sandy Shepherd was awarded the bowling prize.
Jane Massam proved to be the best all-rounder.
The next competition is the South Coast Herald sponsored 2-4-2 to be held today (14th).
THE BELL
GERMAN members Guy Wiltgen and Petra Heyll are wished a safe journey back home, and members look forward to seeing them later in the year.

THE South Coast Herald men’s pairs played last Tuesday was won by Peet van Rooyen and Steve O’Moore, with Louis Marx and Peter Marsh second.

The Schooners restaurant mixed trips played last Monday were won by Richard Cochman, Dumisani Madlala and Kitty Cochman, with Tony Korb, Peter Marsh and Karen Delaney in second place.
Session prize went to Steve Doran,Tony Aveyard and Kathy Simpson.
The next competitions will be the Harbour View SuperSpar in-house mixed pairs this Friday (15th) in the afternoon and the Wimpy women’s pairs next Thursday (21st) in the morning.
VILLAGE
THE men will be playing league at the club this Saturday afternoon.
There will be no sponsored competitions until further notice, when the clubhouse is completed.
Tabs in are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 1.15pm for 1.30pm and don’t forget the Boma Branch after bowls and for ‘get-togethers’ on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4pm till 6pm.
