Knights light up local cricket scene

The captain played a role with bat and ball.

THE Knights Cricket Club, coming off a winning streak in T20 cricket, defeated Douglas Mitchell at Douglas Mitchell in a very tight 50 over league game last Sunday.

The hosts batted first and made 74 all out, with Terry du Preez top-scoring with 26.

Saeed Patel rattled through the batting, taking a magnificent six for 24, including a hat-trick.

Sahal Mansur picked up one for 16 in 10 overs, while Uzair Desai grabbed two for 29 in seven overs.

In reply, the Knights made the 78 for six in 20 overs, in conditions best described as ‘difficult for batting’.

Top scorer for the Knights was Uzair Desai, who played a captain’s knock, scoring 20.

This continues a consistent run of form for him in the last few games.

Shaahid Shaik made a valuable 13 under the circumstances.
