Enduro star is an ‘ace’ golfer, too!

Some golfers can go a lifetime without achieving the 'perfect fluke'.

SOME golfers can go a lifetime without achieving the ‘perfect fluke’.

Not Kyle Flanagan, who is better known for his prowess on a motorbike and his achievements in the much faster paced world of off-road enduro racing.

However, of late he has experienced the bite of the golf bug, and enjoys a round when he has the time.

He signed up as a member at Southbroom Golf Club not that long ago. And shortly thereafter had a hole-in-one at the par three 8th hole, using a 9-iron. Most golfers battle to hit the green there, never mind have an ace!

“I have only been playing golf for about six months and I’m still at the stage of where I am just hoping to hit the green on par threes, so I couldn’t believe what I saw when the ball was rolling towards the hole and the flag shook,” he said.

“At first I thought it may have hit the flag and that the ball was behind the hole, but the security guard standing near the green looked back and started clapping, and that’s when it really hit me,” he said.

Hopefully it will be the beginning of many more great golf shots. Kyle is currently playing off a 20 handicap, but no doubt that will come down quickly the more golf he plays.
