ENDURO rider Scott Bouverie (Brother Leader Tread KTM) of Harding has started the 2016 season in promising fashion, with a third place in round one of the Liquorland National Enduro championship.
It took place in the scenic valleys of Utrecht, 40km east of Newcastle last weekend.
The area was blessed with some long-awaited rain weeks before the National as well as heavy rain the night before the race, which ensured a dust free event with a couple of mud sections along the way.
Bouverie raced in the hotly contested E1 class. He was the runner-up in E2 last year, so decided to move to the E1 class for 2016.
The Utrecht event was also his first race in five months after having to undergo knee surgery after the final round last year.
He rounded off the podium in third place, less than a second behind second place. It was a great start to the season for him and 2016 should see the talented rider showcase his abilities even more.
“It’s so good to be back racing again. My KTM 250 XC-F was amazing and especially the last special being a grass special with a few man-made obstacles was very enjoyable.”, said Bouverie.
Travis Teasdale secured the E2 class and overall win for the day.
Round two of the Liquorland National Enduro championship will take place in Heidelberg, Gauteng on April 30.
