KINGFISHER BOWLING ASSOCIATION
Clean sweep for Port Natal
KINGFISHER Bowling Association hosted the KZN Quadrangular last weekend, with teams competing from four districts of the province, namely Kingfisher, Port Natal, KZN Country and Natal Inland.
The districts come together each year with the selected sides which will take part in the forthcoming Inter-Districts.
The men’s and women’s open and seniors will be playing in Gauteng, while the B sides will be playing in Port Elizabeth.
Port Natal’s men’s and women’s sides made a clean sweep of the trophies.
KZN Country came second in the men. Kingfisher women also placed second.
The senior women were definitely the stars of the weekend, winning their section.
Thanks to host venues, Southbroom, Margate and Riverside for the preparation of their greens.
The catering was excellent at all venues and bar staff were run off their feet keeping the players and spectators hydrated.
Men: 1 Port Natal 110 points; 2 KZN Country 108 points; 3 Natal Inland 54 points; 4 Kingfisher 45 points.
Women: 1 Port Natal 109; 2 Kingfisher 89 points; 3 Natal Inland 63 points; 4 KZN Country 48 points.
BANNERS REST
RON Camps and Jenny Rennie won the GP Security mixed pairs, from runners-up Brian Cole-Cook and Janet Venter.
Second session went to Maureen la Grange and Ally Weir and the 50/50 board to Brian Camps.
Rod Phelps and Ron Camps won the Tops Port Edward men’s pairs, with runners-up being Jokkie van Buuren and Mike Gower.
50/50 board went to Brian Camps. Golden Moon Wild Coast Spur mixed trips is on March 16.
HIBBERDENE
THE nominated mixed trips played last Friday was won by Heather and Dirk Grabie, assisted by Maureen Jonker.
Runners-up were Albert and Alida Munnik with Martin Rautenbach.
Session prize to Eddie Milne, Callie and Estelle Quinn. Thanks to Tiago’s Open Flame for sponsorship.
Next comp is the Hibberdene Pharmacy nominated mixed trips on Friday (11th).
The Jolly Roger fun day was most successful, with some promising bowlers on show. But we’ll have to wait for them to retire before they join us!
MARGATE BC
BRIAN Douthwaite and Bill Eccles won the Margate Panelbeaters men’s 2-4-2 last Friday.
Runners-up were Cedric Glandfield and Alan Gibson.
First session to Bill Brown and Rennie Geyer; second session to Ross Ferguson and Clive Edmundson.

THE Hair Shoppe women’s fours competition was won by Mariaan van Buuren, Leonie Booth, Mary Warner and Estelle Carter.
Runners-up were Sheena Absalom, Vicki de Beer, Yvonne Saunders and Yvonne Bausek.

NEXT outing will be at Southbroom on Sunday, March 20 at 8.30am (and not as advertised in the dairy).
There will be a bring and braai after the competition. All bowlers are welcome to join in with the Nomads.
PORT EDWARD
GAWIE Bosman, Gino Alilovic and Pat Brand won the Save Rite open trips last week.
Runners-up were Pam Cole-Cook, Dan Delany and Hazel Delaney. Session went to Janet Venter, Roger Humphrey and Derek Wicks.
Troll#Tramp will take place on April 1. Watch this space.
PORT SHEPSTONE
THE South Coast Herald women’s fours winners this month were Kobie Stander, Dora Vosloo, Caroline Harris and Winnie Hess.
They also won the ‘toucher’ prize with no less than 13 touches.
Runners-up were Piet van Rooyen, Claude Ching, Dawie Schlebush and Barry Krause.

THE Dr D’Arcy men’s trips was won by Norman Aiston, Albert Munnik and Eddie Milne. Runners-up were Dennis Graham, Eric Grierson and John Meyer.
The second session prize went to Brian Marriott, Artur Lopes and Fanie Strydom.
The In House Fruit and Veg pairs was won by Artur Lopes and Alan Wallace. Second spot was taken by Cheg Chegwidden and Tom Semple. Second session went to Ann Barkway and Richard Cochman.
It is rumoured that Tweni are waiting until after T20 world championships to challenge Southport as they are considering an approach to AB and Faf to join them for the return ‘cricket match’.

CAPTAIN’S Anchor mixed fours is to be played this Friday (11th) – conveners are Stan and Sandy Penny.
The birthday tea will be held on Wednesday (16th). Good bowling to those playing in the Wednesday League and the Kingfisher mid-summer mixed fours.

WINNERS of the South Coast Herald men’s pairs were Bez Bezuidenhout and Bruce Hoyer. Runners-up were Charles Murgatroyd and Tony Aveyard. Session winners were Werner Mody and Rentie Stevens.
The Harbour View SuperSpar mixed pairs was won by Dumisani Madlala and Carol Oaks. Runners-up were Peter and Pat Maggs and session winners were Jacque Snyman and Sheenagh Dempster.
