Falcons scoop opening knockout
The volleyball complex was abuzz with supporters as three teams registered for the premier section.
VOLLEYBALL players were treated to an action packed event last weekend when Port Shepstone Volleyball Association (PSVA) hosted its opening tournament at the Marburg Sports Complex.
The high-class volleyball on display drew many fans and spectators back to the sport, catering for all levels.
Three teams, Avengers, Falcons and City Boyz, participated in the premier section.
After the round robin stage, Avengers were knocked out leaving Falcons and City Boyz to battle it out in the final.
Both teams delivered excellent volleyball.
With the game tied at two sets each, the dreaded fifth set tie-breaker was required.
Falcons went on the attack and launched spike after spike on City Boyz.
The players from City Boyz were magnificent in defence. They picked up every attack from the Falcons and virtually never let a ball fall to the ground. Both teams traded power attacks and showed brilliance in their game, but Falcons eventually went on to win the set and the game.
During the prize-giving ceremony, the 2015 league winners and runners-up were awarded their trophies as well.
