BANNERS REST
THE Wild Coast Golden Moon Spur mixed trips was won by Rod and Mary Phelps with Leigh Warner.
Runners-up were Aubrey Hood, Ron Camps and Helen Cock, and second session went to Rob Lyle, Phillipa Rowney and Derek Wicks, with the 50/50 board going to Amy Körner.
A spider held to benefit the blind bowlers was won by Jenny Rennie.
Kinsey Kingfisher Motors mixed fours this Friday (27th).
The SuperSpar Port Edward Tri-Club competition has moved to June 22-24.
HIBBERDENE
MARIE Coetzer, with Albert and Alida Munnik, won the Warwick nominated mixed trips last Friday.
Runners-up were Bez and Bubbles Bezuidenhout, with Paul Gruther.
Session prize went to Anne Matthysen, with Callie and Estelle Quinn.
Preparations are in full swing for Hibiscus Week, which starts in two weeks’ time or so.
MARGATE BC
WINNERS of the Manaba Kwikspar women’s 2-4-2 were Kobie Stander and Winnie Hess.
Runners-up were Sharon Scheinberg and Leza Edwards. Session to Marianne van Buuren and Mary Warner.
Uvongo Open 2-4-2 this Friday (27th), with free boerewors rolls after the game.
Ellen Cawker made it to the quarter finals of the senior singles at nationals.
Sunday bowlers are having a braai after a morning of fun bowls this Sunday (29th).
Members are mourning the sudden and untimely death of Helen Southward. Deepest sympathy is extended to Ernie, family and friends.

MARGATE CC
ARTHUR Orr, one of the club’s esteemed members, turned 90 last Friday.
He played league up until late last year, but unfortunately had to give up competitive bowls.
Until very recently, he still came to the club to play the odd social game.
He has given a great deal to bowls and Margate CC over many years.
Dora Vosloo, Jo Olivier and Sandi Johnston won the ‘Chicken and Egg’ day, sponsored by Food Lover’s Market last Wednesday.
The Engel & Volker’s men’s fours was won by Dieter Scholz, Allen Gibson, Ian Hutton and Ross Ferguson.
Runners-up were Rod Phelps Peter Bennet, Brian Cole-Cook and Ron Camps.
MUNSTER
THE Kinsey tournament will be held at Banners Rest this Friday (27th).
On duty for the High Rock mixed trips are Anthony Card, Joan Lindley and Albert van der Lith.
Indulgence mixed pairs are on June 1. Tea duty – Lyn Meek and Ella Smith.
PORT EDWARD
SUPERSPAR Port Edward winners were Joe Ashworth, Glen Allen and Ann McAllister.
Runners-up were Leoni Booth, Estelle and Mike Carter. Session prize to Andreas van der Linde, Dan de Laney and Grant Walton.
Coastal Farmers mixed trips winners were Peter Ziervogel, Maureen le Grange and Ally Weir.
Runners-up were Rod Phelps, Peter Bennett and Mary Phelps and the session prize winners were John Keppler, Trevor Smith and Phillipa Rowney.
PORT SHEPSTONE
EDDIE Fann took (senior) silver at the recent South African nationals, just losing in a very tightly fought final.
At one stage the score was 19-all but Eddie eventually lost 21-19.
In the fours, Eddie, Roy Anderson, Howard Frizelle and Kevin Lancaster won the bronze medal.
Telepage sponsored the club’s May business day.
Winners were the Coastal Cellular team comprising Brian and Jenny Rawlins, Tony Johnson and Gill Thiele.
Runners-up were Jacque Snyman, Sheena Dempster, Winnie Hess and Therese Barron.
RIVERSIDE
THE Food Lover’s Market mixed 2-4-2 is this Friday (27th).

SOUTHPORT
THE Harbour View SuperSpar women’s trips played last Thursday was won by Marie Coetzer, B Gradwell and Alida Munnik.
Runners-up were Denise Nel, Kitty Cochman and Sandy Shepherd.
The singles championships were held last Saturday morning.
The experience and consistency of Jane Massam enabled her to run out a worthy winner against the flair of her challenger Sandy Shepherd.
Cosmos Gumede defended his men’s title against Don Russouw, who, although he fought back gamely from an enormous deficit, was finally well beaten.
The men’s plate was a ding dong affair between the club president and vice president.
Bob Macfarlane finally regained the lead and the trophy on the last end from Brian Marriott, who had come from a long way back to turn the game into a very exciting spectacle.
THE BELL
THE Fruit & Veg mixed 2-4-2 was won by Geoff and Tina Barbour with Kevin Mullen and Penny Hartman in second place. The session prize went to Charmaine van Deventer and Michelle Vermeulen.
Orca Restaurant sponsored mixed trips will be played this Friday (27th), and Captains Anchor mixed fours on Friday, June 3.
Bowls are played every Wednesday and Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings. Visitors welcome.
VILLAGE
MIKE Prinsloo and Hans van der Walt won the Martin Electronics men’s 2-4-2 this week, followed by Hein Bester and Neels Boshoff.
Sessions went to Ivan Hosken and Fred Askham and to Clive Edmundson and Bill Eccles. Norman Isherwood won the 50/50.
Winners of the Hyundai drawn mixed trips were Norman Isherwood, Derrick Shell and Ilona Landman, followed by Bill Parfitt, Gill Davies and Leon Hampton, on a count-out from Gary Hess, Aubrey Watson and Manny Piquito. Lucky draw – George Ball.
It is planned to hold a ‘Christmas in July’ function on Sunday, July 17, subject to confirmation.
