From the bowling greens: Change of venue for KBA ‘talent’ camps
News and results from South Coast bowling clubs.
KINGFISHER BOWLING ASSOCIATION
ALL current district players are to please make note of the change of venue for the first of the upcoming ‘High Performance Talent Identification’ camps.
The venue has changed to Riverside instead of Margate as was stated in the recent KBA invitation.
The first camp will be held at Riverside this Saturday, June 4, starting at 8.30am with a programme overview.
Training exercises will start at 9am, for the morning only.
Afternoon is available for those that might want to have a bounce game.
Dress is casual/mufti. Green fees R10 per player, payable to Riverside.
Refreshments, bowlers to bring their own. Bowlers to bring four bowls each.
The second camp is scheduled for Saturday, July 30 (all day).
The goal of this initiative is to improve the performances of district teams when competing in national competitions and to provide talented bowlers with a training programme which is motivational, personal and measurable.

Belated congratulations to Port Shepstone’s Eddie Fann, Roy Anderson, Howard Frizelle and Kevin Lancaster for winning a bronze medal in the SA men’s nationals fours competition held recently.
Not content with that Eddie went on to win silver in the senior singles.
Well done to Margate BC’s Ellen Cawker for making it through to the quarter finals in the women’s competition.
BANNERS REST
WINNERS of the Indulgence and Peter Bennett open pairs played last Wednesday were Ron Camps and Glen Allen. Placed second were Leoni Booth and Estelle Carter.
Banners Rest retained the annual Kinsey Trophy played last Friday. Port Edward were runners-up and Munster third.
A spider held to benefit NSRI was won by Pam Cole-Cook and Dave Lindley, with the 50/50 board going to Estelle Carter.
HIBBERDENE
THE mixed nominated trips played last Friday was won by Norman and Judy Aiston, with Werner Mody. Runners-up were Arthur and Miriam Seager, with Pauline Howle.
A very big welcome and thanks to new sponsor Kwagga Foods in Tweni, as well as Chris Lepan of Suzuki South Coast, who are also new sponsors.
Mike and Ronel Bourman have also sponsored the club as the Bourman Group.
MARGATE BC
ANNETTE Payne and Sheena Absolom won the Uvongo Spar open 2-4-2 last Friday.
Runners-up were Clive Edmundson and Brian Smallberger.

MARGATE CC
WELL done to Barry Delvin, Rassie Erasmus and Olwen Gibbs on winning the open trips sponsored by Manaba Kwikspar.
Runners-up were Dora Vosloo, Helen Proctor and Georgie McKechnie.

MUNSTER
HIGH Rock mixed trips were won by Piet Heunis, Cliff Moakes and Rina Fourie.
Runners-up were Dice Graaff, Mike Gower and Myra Doubell,
Kinsey tournament was won by Banners Rest, followed by Port Edward and then Munster.
Val Smith won the women’s handicap final.
PORT EDWARD
WINNERS of the Beach Bobbies mixed pairs were Leoné Blom and Phil Longdon from Denise Brass and Derek Wicks.
Congratulations to Banners Rest on retaining the annual Kinsey Trophy at Banners Rest from Port Edward and Munster.

RIVERSIDE
THE Food Lover’s Market 2-4-2 was won by Vi Eltis and Bill Eccles, followed by Olwen Gibbs and Leo Niese.

SOUTHBROOM
HEIN Bester, Nelia Reed and Bill Reed won the Wolf Security open trips from Kobus Faber, Trish Bell and Elize Bester.

SOUTHPORT
BRIAN Marriott and Jane Massam won the Fruit & Veg in-house pairs played last Tuesday from Nellis Hattingh and Jan Scholtz.
Winning the Dr D’Arcy men’s trips were Allan Jacobson, Duncan Randall and Hew Hodson. Brian Marriott, Artur Lopes and Fanie were just squeezed out.
The Geochem mixed trips played last Sunday was won by Mark Bishoff, Judy Hové and Nellis Hattingh. Tabs in at 1pm for 1.30pm.
THE BELL
LUKE Pohl, Johannie Theron and Maureen Muller won the Orca sponsored mixed trips.
In second place were Tina and Geoff Barbour and Peter Giblin. Session prize was won by Margie and Duncan Randall and Barry Krause.

Congratulations to Mada Lindeque on her daughter Colleen de Reuck’s seventh place finish (women) in the Comrades Marathon.
TWENI
BARBARA Fernihough and Susan Fourie won the Wimpy women’s pairs, with runners-up being Charmain van Deventer and Michelle Vermeulen.
Second session went to Sharalyn Dacey and Tina Barbour. Tabs in as normal during Hibiscus Week.
VILLAGE
WINNERS of the Hopdens Kwikspar mixed 2-4-2 were Sharon Scheinberg and Manny Rodrigues followed by Ivan and Hazel Hosken.
Sessions went to Brian and Nancy Hughes and to Winston van Greune with Margaret Jones. 50/50 was won by Rosemary Esterhuysen.
Irene Holland beat Dawn Oehley to win the women’s handicap singles champs, while the men’s drawn pairs was won by Denzil Massyn and Ken Hills over Brian Hughes and Manny Piquito.
