Eddie and Gill to play in mixed pairs tourney

WINNERS of the recent greenkeepers’ competition held at The Bell were Hans Wijtman and Elliot Nqoko from Southbroom.

Runners-up were Dumisani Madlala and Siyabonga Gumede from Umtentweni.

Good luck to Eddie Fann and Gill Thiele who will be playing for KBA in the BSA Mixed Pairs in the Northern Cape from June 22 to 25.

Get your entries in for the KZN Open tournament before June 21. The men’s and women’s tournaments will run from July 16 to 24.

BANNERS REST

THE GP Security mixed pairs played last Friday was won by Hedley Meek and Val Smith. Runners-up were Rod and Mary Phelps.

Second session went to Grant Walton and Leonie Bloem, and the 50/50 board to Peter Bennett.

The Tops Port Edward men’s pairs was postponed and will be this Sunday (12th).

The SuperSpar Port Edward tri-club tournament will take place from June 22 to 24.

HIBBERDENE

TIAGO’S nominated mixed trips were won by Bruce Hoyer, with Callie and Estelle Quinn.

Runners-up were Maureen and Tabie Jonker, with Rentjie Stevens.

Session prize was awarded to Arthur and Miriam Seager, with Jan Venter.

André van Niekerk won the novice final over Desirée van Rensburg.

Men’s pairs saw Bez Bezuidenhout and John Hoyer win over Eddie Milne and Gert Jansen van Rensburg.

Women’s pairs went to Miriam Seager and Helene Oosthuizen against Gloria Gerrard and Estelle Quinn.

MARGATE BC

ATHOL Robertson and Ross Ferguson won the Margate Panel Beaters men’s pairs last Friday.

Runners-up were Dereck Shorn and Manny Piquito.

First session to Brian Smallberger and Graham Dunlop, and second session to Cedric Glanfield and Alan Gibson.

Duty: office – Yvonne Bausek; tea – Heidi Bracegirdle and Jean Bouverie.

MARGATE CC

MARIAAN van Buuren, Leoni Booth, Mary Warner and Estelle Carter won the Hair Shoppe women’s fours last week,

Runners-up were Hazel Hosken, Nancy Hughes, Dawn Oehley and Louise Mann. 50/50 draw was won by Estelle Carter.

Duty: Anji Gold and Barry Herbert.

MUNSTER

WILLIE Smith beat Martiens Zietsman to win the men’s handicap final last Tuesday.

The Indulgence mixed pairs last Wednesday were won by Aubrey and Penny Hood, from Arthur Ronaldson and Leoné Bloem.

Second session went to Rob Lyle and Val Smith, and board to Tommy Dry.

PORT EDWARD

GAWIE Bosman, Leoni Booth and Mike Carter won the Realty 1 mixed trips last Tuesday.

Runners-up were Barry Payn, Trevor Smith and Philippa Rowney.

Second session went to Mike Gower, with Dan and Hazel Delaney. 50/50 board to Estelle Carter.

Social bowls as usual on Saturday and Wednesday, tabs to be in by 1.45pm.

PORT SHEPSTONE

THE South Coast Herald mixed fours last Thursday were won by Barbara Fernihough, Susan Fourie, Charmaine van Deventer and Angela Moorhouse.

Runners-up were Tony Johnson, Daphne Hounsell, Anne Payn and Len Rossler.

Toucher prize was won by Eddie Fann, Howard Frizelle, John Nadauld and Gill Thiele with a total of 16.

SOUTHBROOM

A GOOD turnout for the Mariners open fours finished with Shane Nienaber, Dieter Scholz, John Richards and Barbara Brook coming out the winners.

Runners-up were Barry Payn, Rob Lyle, Mike Gower and Philippa Rowney.

First session to Neels Boshoff, Malcolm Milne, Janet Larkins and Richard Derman. Second session to Nico Mantoan, Alfred Shusha, Lorraine Wijtman and Viv Date.

There will be no bowls for two weekends as KBA competitions will be taking place.

SOUTHPORT

THE necessary renovations to the clubhouse roof were completed in time for the Hibiscus Week, which started on Monday.

The shower of rain the night before enabled the green to be at its best, and was complimented on by visitors.

The weather played ball and the tournament kicked off to a perfect start, with a “spider” being played, in order to raise funds for blind bowlers.

Much appreciation is owed to Ugu South Coast Tourism for sponsorship of this major undertaking, and Suzuki South Coast, for the club’s internal sponsorship.

THE BELL

CAPTAIN’S Anchor mixed fours were won by Hew Hodgson, Renzo van Niekerk, Daphne Hounsell and Caroline Harris.

In second place were Stuart Chappell, Rickie Roberson, Val Boshoff and Charles Murgatroyd.

Session prize went to Luke Pohl, Johannie Theron, Barry Krause and Phil Viljoen.

The Halfway Toyota sponsored mixed fours will be played all day on June 16.

RIVERSIDE

THE Hopdens Spar open trips takes place today (9th), with tabs in this afternoon.

The Food Lover’s Market 2-4-2 has been postponed. Tabs in every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 1.15pm.

VILLAGE

DENZIL Massyn, Orrill Day and George Ball won the the Fruit & Veg tabs in mixed trips last week, followed by Ivan Hosken, Trevor Smith and Hazel Barton.

Next sponsored competition is Martin Electronics men’s 2-4-2 on July 16.

Remember, tabs in on Mondays and Wednesdays in mufti at 1.15pm and Fridays at 2.45pm.
