Great mix of cars … and a few wipe-outs!
South Africa's top drivers showed off their action with their highly modified cars.
IT was all systems go for the popular KZN Road Racing Champs at the Dezzi Raceway last Saturday. A great mix of cars and motorcycles raced at the track and motor enthusiasts from all over KwaZulu-Natal competed to claim top honours when they pushed their vehicles to the limit. Fast cars including Lotus 7s and saloon cars joined the motorcycles and their roaring engines, followed by clouds of smoke all added to the atmosphere.

Hundreds of fans gathered around the raceway, to watch their favourite drivers tear up the fast course. The strong field of competitors included many Gautengers among the predominantly KZN drivers. The event elicited unprecedented local support and was fuelled by flesh-tingling cheers as the ‘out of town’ top dogs fought off stiff competition from the local hopefuls.

The circuit is a make or break affair and drivers had their work cut out for them. As drivers fine-tuned their suped-up cars in order to cement their positions in the championships, the up-down Dezzi rollercoaster circuit layout provided many challenging corners and the driving techniques and skills of the drivers were pushed to the limit.
