Southbroom tennis players serve up the goods

The champs are done and dusted for the year, and some familiar faces were left holding the trophies.

SOUTHBROOM Tennis Club champs have been completed for 2016.

All the courts were in use most mornings and afternoons through the month of May. Numerous spectators watched the finals, which were played on June 1, 4 and 8.

Winners of the men’s doubles were Rolf Gudegast and Ron Stirling. Runners-up were Brandon Saunders and Johan Vermaak.

Pauline Lee and Nicky Momberg won the women’s doubles, beating Zinnia Freitas and Meryl Simonsen.

Simon and Pauline Lee won the mixed doubles, from Zinnia Freitas and Johan Vermaak.

The club will hold a round robin on Sunday, June 26. Sign up to play in this event, snooze you lose.

The resurfacing of Court 3 begins in the first week of July. At the end of July the club will host visitors from Mthata for a weekend of tennis.
